Typos and presentation errors
Spelling, formatting, broken links and similar non-substantive errors may be corrected without a formal correction note when the underlying meaning does not change.
Corrections & transparency
The public record can change. FOIPub should show when its coverage changes too.
Meeting minutes get posted later. Packets are amended. Automated captions can be wrong. FOIPub treats corrections and source upgrades as part of the publication process rather than something to hide.
Material corrections
Facts that change the meaning
If FOIPub published a materially incorrect vote, amount, official action, attribution, date or other substantive fact, the corrected page should identify what changed and why.
Source upgrades
Better records can arrive later
A preliminary page may be upgraded when minutes, packets, official recordings or other stronger records become available. New evidence should replace weaker wording rather than being treated as proof the earlier uncertainty never existed.

FOIPub does not publish an exact tally, motive, relationship, allegation or chronology merely because it seems likely. When the record is incomplete, the page should say so.

FOIPub's goal is not to be mistake-proof. It is to make factual claims traceable and to correct material errors clearly when better evidence becomes available.

When a published substantive fact requires correction, FOIPub will add an entry here with the affected page, the corrected fact and the reason for the change.
